Equipment

  • Slow cooker (at least 4 quarts)
  • Large mixing spoon or ladle
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Citrus juicer
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Heat-safe mugs or cups

Ingredients

  • 4 cups hot water
  • 2 cups whiskey rye or bourbon
  • 1 cup dark rum
  • 0.5 cup honey
  • 0.25 cup maple syrup
  • 0.5 cup fresh lemon juice about 2–3 lemons
  • 4-5 cinnamon sticks
  • 10 whole cloves
  • lemon slices for garnish

Instructions

  • Add hot water, honey, and maple syrup to the slow cooker. Stir until dissolved.
  • Add cinnamon sticks and cloves.
  • Pour in whiskey, rum, and lemon juice. Stir to mix.
  • Cover and set slow cooker to low for 1–2 hours to infuse flavors.
  • Switch to warm setting for serving.
  • Ladle into mugs, garnish with lemon slices, and serve hot.

Notes

Do not let the punch boil, as it can dull the citrus flavor and reduce the spirit’s character. Adjust sweetness by altering honey or maple syrup amounts. Remove spices if they become too strong.
