The cocktail shaker is a must for blending everything with ice and getting that chill.
I usually grab a fine mesh strainer if I want the drink extra smooth.
A jigger or even a little measuring cup helps with the pours.
For serving, I go with a chilled martini glass.
Chilling the glass keeps things colder, which is worth the extra minute.
A small plate is handy if I'm rimming the glass with caramel or sugar.
And a small knife for slicing an apple or cutting a caramel candy—just makes things easier.
Ingredients
It doesn't take much to nail the sweet, creamy flavor here. My go-to recipe uses:
2ouncesRumchata
1ouncecaramel vodka
1ounceapple schnapps or apple liqueur
Ice cubes for shaking
Optionalbut I like them for extra flair:
Caramel saucefor drizzling or rimming the glass
Apple slice or caramel candyas garnish
Instructions
I start by chilling my martini glass—either in the freezer or just fill it with ice water for a bit.
While that's happening, I fill the shaker halfway with ice.
Then I measure and pour in the Rumchata, caramel vodka, and apple schnapps.
Seal it up and shake it hard for about 15 seconds. Gotta get it cold and mixed well.
Once the glass is ready, I dump out any ice water.
Sometimes I’ll drizzle caramel sauce inside or around the rim—depends how fancy I feel.
Using a fine mesh strainer, I pour the cocktail into the glass.
If I’m feeling it, I’ll add an apple slice or a caramel candy on top.
Notes
I always taste the cocktail before serving, since apple schnapps can be all over the place—some brands are super sweet, others really tart. If it’s too strong, a splash of half-and-half or cream mellows it out.For less sugar, sugar-free caramel syrup works. If I don't have caramel vodka, vanilla vodka plus a bit of caramel syrup does the trick.I don’t let the drink sit around, because the cream warms up and it’s just not as good. Garnishes are optional, but honestly, they make it look inviting. For parties, I’ll double or triple the recipe and shake it in batches.
