Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Measuring jigger
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Tall glass or highball glass
  • Bar spoon
  • Small saucepan
  • Citrus juicer

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz rosemary vanilla simple syrup homemade or store-bought
  • 2-3 oz club soda or seltzer
  • ice cubes
  • fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish
  • lemon wedges or slices for garnish
  • sugar optional, for rimming glass

Instructions

  • Rim your glass with sugar if desired, then fill with ice.
  • In a shaker, combine vodka, lemon juice, and rosemary vanilla syrup with ice.
  • Shake for 10–15 seconds.
  • Strain into your prepared glass.
  • Top up with club soda or seltzer. Stir gently with a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with a rosemary sprig and lemon wedge or slice.

Notes

Homemade rosemary vanilla syrup is best (equal parts sugar/water, rosemary, splash of vanilla). Fresh lemon juice makes a huge difference. Go easy on the vanilla for balance. Use club soda for more fizz or seltzer for a softer finish.
