Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Muddler
  • Citrus juicer
  • Glasses (highball or collins)
  • Ice cube tray
  • Knife and cutting board

Ingredients

For 2 servings, gather these ingredients:

  • 4 oz silver tequila
  • 4 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz rosemary simple syrup
  • Club soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Grapefruit slices and rosemary sprigs for garnish

The fresh juices and homemade syrup are key to the drink's flavor. Use good quality tequila for the best taste.

Instructions

First, make the rosemary simple syrup.

  • Mix 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, and 3 rosemary sprigs in a pot.
  • Boil, then simmer for 5 minutes. Cool and strain.
  • Next, fill glasses with ice.
  • In a shaker, combine tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and rosemary syrup.
  • Add ice to the shaker and shake well for 10-15 seconds.
  • Then, strain the mixture into the glasses.
  • Top with club soda and stir gently.
  • Finally, garnish with grapefruit slices and rosemary sprigs.

Serve right away while cold and bubbly.

    Notes

This recipe can be changed to suit your taste. Add more or less syrup to adjust sweetness. For a stronger drink, use more tequila.
Make a big batch for parties by mixing the ingredients in a pitcher. Add club soda just before serving.
For a non-alcoholic version, skip the tequila and use more club soda or grapefruit soda.
Store leftover rosemary syrup in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. It's great in other drinks too.
