Equipment

  • Copper mule mug
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Ice

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vanilla vodka
  • 6 fresh raspberries
  • 4 oz ginger beer
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Extra raspberries and lime wedge for garnish
  • Fresh mint sprig optional garnish

Instructions

  • Add raspberries to the shaker and muddle them gently until broken down.
  • Pour in the vanilla vodka and lime juice.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake for 10-15 seconds.
  • Fill a copper mule mug with fresh ice.
  • Strain the mixture into the mug through a fine mesh strainer.
  • Top with ginger beer and stir gently.
  • Garnish with fresh raspberries, a lime wedge, and mint sprig if desired.

Notes

The drink tastes best with fresh raspberries, but frozen ones work in a pinch. Just let them thaw first.
Store-bought vanilla vodka works great, or make your own by steeping a vanilla bean in plain vodka for 3-5 days.
Keep the ginger beer cold for the best fizz. Flat ginger beer will make the drink too sweet.
The copper mug keeps the drink colder longer and adds to the traditional mule experience.
