Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Citrus juicer
  • Mixing spoon
  • Margarita glass or rocks glass
  • Small plate
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Small bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
  • 1 oz Cointreau or triple sec
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz pumpkin puree unsweetened
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup add more if you like it sweet
  • 0.25 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • vanilla extract dash
  • brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice for rim, optional
  • ice cubes
  • cinnamon stick for garnish, optional
  • 1 dash orange bitters optional
  • lime wheel or wedge for garnish

Instructions

  • Wet the rim of your glass with lime juice, then dip it into a mix of brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice.
  • Add tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, pumpkin puree, simple syrup, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, and orange bitters (if using) to a cocktail shaker.
  • Fill shaker with ice and shake hard for around 30 seconds.
  • Strain into prepared glass over fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a lime wheel or wedge. Sprinkle extra pie spice on top if desired.

Notes

Pumpkin puree can be thick, so shake longer if you want a smooth drink. Sweeten to taste with more syrup or a pinch of brown sugar. No Cointreau? Triple sec is fine. Add lemon juice for more tartness if you like. Cinnamon stick as garnish adds aroma and style—always use fresh lime juice for the brightest flavor.
