Add bourbon, pumpkin puree, maple syrup (or simple syrup), lemon juice, vanilla extract, egg, cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkin spice to a cocktail shaker—no ice yet.
Shake hard for about 30 seconds (dry shake) to get everything blended and frothy.
Add a handful of ice cubes to the shaker.
Shake again for another 30 seconds (wet shake) to chill.
Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
