Instructions
Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip the rim in salt.
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
Add tequila, prickly pear syrup, fresh lime juice, and orange liqueur to the shaker. For a sweeter drink, add simple syrup or agave.
Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds, until the shaker feels very cold.
Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
Garnish with a lime wedge or a thin slice of prickly pear.
Notes
Tequila blanco keeps the flavor bright; reposado adds subtle oak. If you can’t find prickly pear syrup, blend peeled cactus pears (tunas) with sugar and water, then strain. Chill the glass for an extra crisp sip.
