Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Strainer
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Rocks glass
  • Small spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon or whiskey your favorite
  • 1 oz fresh pomegranate juice bottled okay if needed
  • 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup to taste
  • 0.25 cup pomegranate seeds plus extra for garnish
  • ice cubes for shaker and glass
  • mint leaves optional, for muddling/garnish
  • lemon twist optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Add pomegranate seeds and mint leaves (if using) to the shaker. Muddle gently.
  • Pour in bourbon or whiskey, pomegranate juice, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  • Add ice to the shaker. Shake for about 15 seconds until chilled.
  • Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with extra pomegranate seeds, mint sprig, and a lemon twist if desired.

Notes

Fresh pomegranate juice gives the best flavor, but bottled works for convenience. Adjust simple syrup to taste—some pomegranates are tart! Rye whiskey makes it spicier. Try chilling the glass for an even colder sip.
