Equipment

  • Highball glass
  • Jigger
  • Bar spoon or long spoon
  • Citrus juicer
  • Ice cube tray

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco
  • 4 oz freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 oz pomegranate juice
  • 0.5 oz pomegranate syrup or grenadine
  • ice cubes
  • 1 maraschino cherry for garnish
  • 1 orange slice for garnish
  • 1 tsp sugar optional, for extra sweetness

Instructions

  • Fill a highball glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour in the tequila and orange juice. Stir gently.
  • Slowly pour the pomegranate juice, then the syrup down the side or over the back of a spoon to create layers.
  • Do not stir after adding the pomegranate. Drop in a maraschino cherry and add an orange slice for garnish.
  • If you want it sweeter, add a teaspoon of sugar and stir gently before layering.

Notes

Serve immediately for the best look—layers will blend if left to sit. Use 100% pomegranate juice for a tart version or add more syrup for sweetness. Blanco tequila keeps it light. For a mocktail, skip the tequila and add extra orange juice.
