Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Long spoon
  • Hurricane glass
  • Strainer
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Ice scoop

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Dark rum
  • 1 oz Coconut rum or spiced rum
  • 2 oz Pineapple juice
  • 2 oz Orange juice
  • 0.5 oz Lime juice fresh
  • 0.5 oz Grenadine pour last so it sinks
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters optional
  • Ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • Orange slice for garnish
  • Maraschino cherry for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  • Add dark rum, coconut (or spiced) rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, and lime juice.
  • Shake for about 10 seconds until well chilled.
  • Strain into a hurricane glass packed with fresh ice.
  • Slowly pour grenadine down the side so it settles at the bottom; add a dash of bitters if using.
  • Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry. Serve immediately.

Notes

Swap coconut rum for spiced rum for a warmer profile. If too sweet, add a squeeze more lime. Fresh juices and a chilled glass make the drink brighter and crisper.
