  • Mixing glass or cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or shot glass
  • Muddler
  • Citrus juicer
  • Bar spoon
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Highball or collins glass
  • Small plate for rimming
  • Ice cubes or crushed ice

Ingredients

  • 2 oz blanco tequila silver tequila
  • 2 oz fresh pink grapefruit juice or ruby red
  • 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz agave nectar or simple syrup
  • 5 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 oz sparkling water or club soda
  • ice cubes
  • salt for rimming glass, optional
  • grapefruit wedge for garnish
  • mint sprig for garnish

Instructions

  • Rim glass with salt if desired. Fill with ice.
  • In shaker, muddle mint leaves with agave or simple syrup. Add tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and ice. Shake well.
  • Strain into glass over ice. Top with sparkling water or club soda. Stir gently. Garnish with mint and grapefruit wedge.

Notes

Use fresh grapefruit and lime for the best flavor. Try grapefruit soda for extra sweetness. Lightly muddle mint—don’t crush too much, or it can taste bitter.
