This drink is all about pineapple juice and tequila—sweet, tart, and a little unexpected. I’ll throw in some topping ideas and a few tools that make things easier (trust me, it helps).

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger (1 oz and 2 oz)
  • Strainer
  • Tall glass or highball
  • Spoon: For stirring.
  • Citrus juicer (if needed)

Ingredients

  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz triple sec or any orange liqueur
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz club soda or lemon-lime soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Pineapple slice lime wedge, or mint (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Fill cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Add tequila, pineapple juice, triple sec, and lime juice.
  • Shake for 10 seconds.
  • Strain into a tall glass with fresh ice.
  • Top with club soda or lemon-lime soda.
  • Stir gently and garnish.

Notes

Fresh pineapple juice really does make a difference, way better than the bottled stuff. If I want it less sweet, I just use club soda instead of lemon-lime.
Lime juice is kind of essential for balance. No triple sec? A splash of orange juice can work in a pinch.
Skipping the garnish doesn’t mess with the flavor, but it does look a little sadder. For a spicy twist, I’ll toss a thin slice of jalapeño into the shaker—just one, or it gets wild fast.
If I’m making a batch for friends, I’ll double or triple everything. Always serve it right away so it’s fresh and icy cold.
