Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk or water for hot chocolate mix
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder or 1 packet hot chocolate mix
  • 1 oz peppermint schnapps
  • 1 oz whiskey
  • 1 oz Irish cream optional
  • 1 tbsp chocolate syrup
  • whipped cream for topping
  • crushed candy cane or shaved chocolate, for garnish

Instructions

  • Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
  • Whisk in cocoa powder (or hot chocolate mix) until smooth. Stir in chocolate syrup.
  • Remove from heat and pour into a heatproof mug.
  • Stir in whiskey, peppermint schnapps, and Irish cream if using.
  • Top with whipped cream and garnish with crushed candy cane or shaved chocolate.

Notes

Whole milk makes for the creamiest drink, but any milk or alt-milk works. Add more peppermint for extra kick. Top with mini marshmallows or a drizzle of caramel for even more fun.
