Instructions
Heat milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
Whisk in cocoa powder (or hot chocolate mix) until smooth. Stir in chocolate syrup.
Remove from heat and pour into a heatproof mug.
Stir in whiskey, peppermint schnapps, and Irish cream if using.
Top with whipped cream and garnish with crushed candy cane or shaved chocolate.
Notes
Whole milk makes for the creamiest drink, but any milk or alt-milk works. Add more peppermint for extra kick. Top with mini marshmallows or a drizzle of caramel for even more fun.
