Equipment

  • Large punch bowl or pitcher (2-3 quart capacity)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden spoon: For stirring.
  • Ice bucket
  • Serving ladle
  • 8-10 serving glasses
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Fine mesh strainer (optional)
  • Vegetable peeler (for garnish)

Ingredients

  • 4 cups pear nectar or juice
  • 2 cups ginger ale
  • 1 cup sparkling water
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons ginger syrup store-bought or homemade
  • 1 pear thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 1 inch fresh ginger root peeled and thinly sliced
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish optional
  • Cinnamon sticks for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Prepare the fruit by washing thoroughly. Slice the pear and lemon thinly, removing seeds.
  • Peel and slice the fresh ginger root.
  • In your punch bowl or pitcher, combine the pear nectar, ginger syrup, and lemon juice. Stir well.
  • Add the sliced pear, lemon, and ginger to the mixture. Let sit for 10-15 minutes to infuse flavors.
  • Just before serving, add the ginger ale and sparkling water to maintain carbonation.
  • Stir gently to mix all ingredients without losing bubbles.
  • Add ice to the punch bowl or individual glasses when ready to serve.
  • Garnish each glass with a slice of pear, lemon, or mint leaves if desired.

This punch can be partially prepared ahead of time. Mix the juice, syrup, and fruit up to 4 hours before your event.

    Notes

This recipe serves 8-10 people and can be easily doubled for larger gatherings.
For a stronger ginger flavor, add more ginger syrup or steep the ginger slices longer.
Keep the carbonated ingredients separate until just before serving. This preserves the bubbles that make this punch special.
For a more elegant presentation, freeze pear slices or mint leaves in ice cubes. These decorative ice cubes look beautiful and won't water down your punch as quickly.
Children especially enjoy this drink, but adults appreciate it as a sophisticated non-alcoholic option at parties too. The recipe can be adjusted for sweetness by changing the ratio of pear nectar to sparkling water.
