  • Measuring spoons
  • Jigger
  • Muddler
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Tall glass
  • Stirrer or spoon
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Small saucepan

Ingredients

  • 3-4 fresh sage leaves plus a few for garnish
  • 2 oz fresh pear juice homemade or store-bought, strained
  • 1 oz lemon juice fresh is best
  • 1 oz sage simple syrup see notes
  • 2 oz club soda or ginger ale
  • pear slices for garnish
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Add sage leaves and simple syrup to the shaker. Gently muddle the sage to get the flavor out.
  • Pour in the pear juice, lemon juice, and a few ice cubes.
  • Pop on the lid and shake it up for about 10 seconds.
  • Strain the mix into a tall glass with fresh ice.
  • Top with club soda or ginger ale.
  • Give it a gentle stir to bring everything together.
  • Garnish with a pear slice and a fresh sage leaf.

Notes

Make sage simple syrup by simmering equal parts water and sugar with fresh sage leaves for a few minutes, then strain. Add ginger to the syrup for extra warmth, or honey for a softer sweetness. Fresh pear juice is best, but strained bottled juice works too. Adjust sweetness and fizz to your taste.
