Equipment

  • Measuring cup
  • Jigger or small liquid measure
  • Cocktail shaker or mason jar
  • Fine mesh strainer or sieve
  • Bar spoon or regular spoon
  • Highball glass or mason jar
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Small muddler or wooden spoon

Ingredients

  • 4 oz pear juice unsweetened
  • 2 oz sparkling water
  • 2 oz ginger ale
  • 1-2 fresh sage leaves
  • pear slice for garnish
  • ice cubes
  • sage leaf optional, for garnish
  • splash lemon juice optional, for extra tartness

Instructions

  • Add sage leaves to a shaker and muddle gently.
  • Pour in pear juice and add ice. Shake for about 10 seconds.
  • Strain into a glass over fresh ice.
  • Top with ginger ale and sparkling water. Stir gently.
  • Garnish with a pear slice and extra sage leaf. Add a splash of lemon juice for tartness if desired.

Notes

Use lemon or lime sparkling water for a twist. Fresh pear juice is best, but bottled is fine if low sugar. Adjust ginger ale and sparkling water balance for more/less sweetness. Assemble just before serving for best fizz and freshness.
