Equipment

  • Copper mug
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or shot glass
  • Muddler
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Bar spoon
  • Ice
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board

Ingredients

  • 2 oz pear vodka or regular vodka
  • 1 oz pear juice
  • 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 inch fresh ginger peeled
  • 3 oz ginger beer
  • club soda optional, to lighten
  • ice crushed or cubed
  • pear slices for garnish
  • lime wedge for garnish
  • cinnamon stick for garnish
  • pinch of nutmeg for garnish

Instructions

  • Muddle the ginger chunk in your shaker until it’s juicy and broken up.
  • Add pear vodka, pear juice, and lime juice.
  • Toss in a handful of ice and shake for about 15 seconds.
  • Strain into a copper mug packed with fresh ice.
  • Top with ginger beer (and a splash of club soda if you want it lighter).
  • Stir gently with a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with pear slice, lime wedge, cinnamon stick, and a pinch of nutmeg if desired.

Notes

Best when served ice cold. Use regular vodka if you can’t find pear vodka, but the flavor will be milder. Add club soda for a less sweet version. Garnish with fresh pear, cinnamon, or nutmeg for extra aroma. For batching, mix everything but the ginger beer and ice—top just before serving.
