  • Citrus juicer
  • Small plate
  • Bar spoon
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Ice cubes

Ingredients

  • 2 oz blanco tequila Olmeca Altos or Don Julio recommended
  • 2 oz freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
  • 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.25 oz simple syrup or agave syrup optional, for extra sweetness
  • 2-3 oz grapefruit soda Jarritos, Squirt, or club soda
  • kosher salt for the rim
  • 1 lime wedge for garnish
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass.
  • Dip the rim into kosher salt to coat the edge.
  • Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  • Combine tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and simple syrup in a shaker.
  • Shake briefly to mix and chill.
  • Pour the mix into your prepared glass.
  • Top with grapefruit soda or sparkling water.
  • Stir gently with a bar spoon.
  • Pop a lime wedge on the rim for garnish.

Notes

Try mezcal for a smoky twist. Skip syrup for a less sweet version. Always use kosher salt for the rim. Chill the glass for best results. For a mocktail, skip the tequila and add more grapefruit soda. A splash of grenadine or a thin jalapeño slice can customize the flavor.
