Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Citrus juicer
  • Fine strainer
  • Mixing spoon
  • Rocks glass
  • Small plate
  • Ice cubes

Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
  • 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz passion fruit puree or passion fruit syrup
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup or agave nectar, to taste
  • 2.5 oz sparkling water or club soda or grapefruit soda
  • salt for rim
  • ice cubes
  • grapefruit wedge or lime wheel, for garnish

Instructions

  • Run a lime wedge around your glass rim, then dip it in salt for a salted rim.
  • Fill the glass halfway with ice.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, grapefruit juice, passion fruit puree, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  • Add ice and shake for about 10 seconds until cold.
  • Strain into your salted glass.
  • Top with sparkling water or grapefruit soda and stir gently.
  • Add a grapefruit wedge or lime wheel for garnish.

Notes

Use blanco tequila for crispness, or reposado for more depth. For lighter drinks, use club soda instead of soda. Mix the base ahead for parties, adding bubbles last. The salt rim enhances the citrus and balances the sweetness. Adjust syrup for desired sweetness.
