Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco
  • 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 0.75 oz jalapeño syrup see notes for recipe
  • 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz club soda
  • ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • grapefruit wedge for garnish
  • jalapeño slice optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill your shaker halfway with ice.
  • Add tequila, grapefruit juice, jalapeño syrup, and lime juice.
  • Shake for about 10 seconds until chilled.
  • Strain into a glass packed with fresh ice.
  • Top with club soda and stir gently.
  • Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and jalapeño slice if desired.

Notes

To make jalapeño syrup: simmer equal parts sugar and water with sliced jalapeños for 10 minutes, then strain and cool. Store up to two weeks in the fridge. For less heat, remove seeds earlier. Fresh juice and plenty of ice make this cocktail pop. Taste and adjust syrup or lime for your preferred balance.
