Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
  • 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice or grapefruit soda like Squirt
  • 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz cardamom syrup or simple syrup
  • 2 oz sparkling water or club soda or lemon-lime soda
  • crushed ice
  • kosher salt for rim
  • lime wedge or grapefruit slice, for garnish

Instructions

  • Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip it into kosher salt.
  • Fill the glass with crushed ice.
  • Combine tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and cardamom syrup in a shaker.
  • Add ice, shake for about 10 seconds, and strain into your prepared glass.
  • Top with sparkling water or grapefruit soda.
  • Stir gently with a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge or grapefruit slice.

Notes

Use blanco tequila for a crisp base, or reposado for oaky depth. Tweak syrup to taste for more or less spice. For a lighter drink, use sparkling water. Always use fresh juice for the best flavor, and keep the glass well-chilled.
