A refreshing twist on the classic Paloma, this cocktail combines tequila, fresh grapefruit, and basil for a bright, crisp drink with a subtle herbal note. Easy to make and perfect for warm days or any casual gathering.
0.25ozsimple syrupor agave nectar, adjust to taste
2leavesfresh basilor 3 leaves
3ozgrapefruit sodaor Topo Chico or sparkling water
saltfor the rim, optional

Instructions
Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass and dip in salt if desired.
In a cocktail shaker, gently muddle the basil leaves.
Add tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and simple syrup.
Fill the shaker with ice and shake for about 10 seconds.
Strain into a highball glass filled with ice.
Top with grapefruit soda, Topo Chico, or sparkling water.
Stir gently to mix.
Garnish with a grapefruit wedge, lime wedge, or basil sprig.
Notes
Add jalapeño slices for a spicy kick or more agave syrup for sweetness. Squeeze extra lime on top if you like it more citrusy. Chill ingredients beforehand for the crispest cocktail. Topo Chico is great for extra sparkle!
