Ingredients

  • 2 oz tequila blanco or reposado
  • 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz ginger syrup or use ginger beer to top
  • 0.5 oz agave syrup or simple syrup to taste
  • club soda or ginger beer to top
  • ice cubes
  • pinch of salt optional
  • grapefruit slice for garnish
  • lime wedge for garnish

Instructions

  • If desired, rim the glass with lime and sugar. Fill the glass with ice.
  • In a shaker, combine tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, ginger syrup, and sweetener. Shake for 15 seconds to chill.
  • Strain into the ice-filled glass.
  • Top with club soda or ginger beer and stir gently.
  • Garnish with a grapefruit slice and lime wedge. Serve immediately.

Notes

Fresh-squeezed juice makes a brighter cocktail. Ginger beer offers more bubbles and lighter spice; ginger syrup adds stronger ginger flavor. Adjust syrup to taste depending on your citrus and preference.
