Equipment

  • Large pitcher (32 oz capacity)
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Citrus juicer
  • Ice cube tray
  • Tall glasses
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Strainer
  • Stirring spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh-squeezed orange juice about 4-5 large oranges
  • 15-20 fresh mint leaves plus extra for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons honey or agave nectar
  • 2 cups sparkling water
  • 1 orange sliced for garnish
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon orange blossom water

Instructions

  • Place mint leaves in the pitcher. Then, gently muddle them to release their oils.
  • Add honey to the pitcher and stir until dissolved.
  • Pour in the fresh orange juice and stir to combine with the mint and honey mixture.
  • Add ice cubes to fill the pitcher halfway.
  • Next, pour in the sparkling water and gently stir to combine.
  • Fill tall glasses with ice cubes.
  • Then, strain the mixture into glasses.
  • Garnish each glass with an orange slice and fresh mint leaves.

Notes

The drink stays fresh in the fridge for up to 24 hours without sparkling water. Add the sparkling water just before serving to maintain fizz.
For a stronger mint flavor, let the mint leaves steep in the orange juice for 30 minutes before adding other ingredients.
To make ahead, prepare the orange-mint base and store it separately from the sparkling water.
Small ice cubes work better than large ones for this drink. They chill the mixture faster without diluting it too much.
