Ingredients

  • 2 oz white rum
  • 1 oz fresh orange juice
  • 0.75 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.75 oz simple syrup
  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves
  • Club soda
  • Ice cubes and crushed ice
  • Orange wheel and mint sprig for garnish

Instructions

  • Add mint leaves and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker. Muddle gently to release the mint oils.
  • Then, pour in the white rum, orange juice, and lime juice.
  • Fill the shaker with ice cubes and shake for 10-12 seconds.
  • Fill a Collins glass with crushed ice.
  • Next, strain the mixture into the glass.
  • Afterward, top with club soda (about 2 oz).
  • Finally, stir gently with a bar spoon to combine.
  • Then, garnish with an orange wheel and fresh mint sprig.

Notes

Store fresh mint leaves wrapped in damp paper towels in the refrigerator to keep them fresh longer.
Use fresh-squeezed orange juice instead of bottled for the best taste.
When muddling mint leaves, press gently to avoid bitter flavors from the stems.
Make simple syrup by mixing equal parts sugar and hot water until dissolved. Let cool before using.
The drink can be made non-alcoholic by replacing rum with additional club soda.
