Ingredients

  • 4 cups non-alcoholic red wine or 100% grape juice
  • 2 cups pomegranate juice or cranberry juice
  • 1 large orange sliced into rounds
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 3 star anise pods
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar or maple syrup or honey, to taste
  • 1 inch fresh ginger sliced
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  • Wash and slice the orange into thin rounds.
  • Add orange slices, non-alcoholic wine or grape juice, pomegranate juice, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves, ginger, sweetener, and water to a large pot or Dutch oven.
  • Stir to mix. Heat on low to medium until steaming hot (do not boil), about 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  • Strain out spices and orange slices. Ladle mulled mocktail into heat-safe mugs. Garnish with fresh orange or cinnamon stick if desired.

Notes

Swap in apple juice for a sweeter version. Adjust spices to taste. Best served warm and fresh, but can be made ahead and reheated. Add extra orange slices or cinnamon sticks for garnish.
