Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker (or jar with lid)
  • Muddler or wooden spoon
  • Measuring spoons
  • Tall glass
  • Strainer (optional)
  • Long spoon
  • Ice cube tray

Ingredients

  • 10 fresh mint leaves plus extra for garnish
  • 1/2 lime cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup
  • 3/4 cup club soda
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • lime slices or wedges for garnish

Instructions

  • Toss mint leaves and lime wedges into your shaker.
  • Gently muddle to release minty oils and lime juice.
  • Add simple syrup.
  • Pile on the ice cubes.
  • Close up the shaker or jar and give it a gentle shake.
  • Pour into a tall glass.
  • Top it off with club soda, pouring slowly.
  • Stir gently with a long spoon.
  • Garnish with a mint sprig and lime slices.

Notes

Use fresh mint for the best flavor. Double or triple for a party in a large pitcher. Adjust syrup or lime to taste. No simple syrup? Mix equal parts sugar and hot water. For a mango twist, muddle in fresh mango or use mango nectar. Serve right away for best color and fizz.
