Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Muddler
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Copper mug or tall glass
  • Ice

Ingredients

For one cocktail, you'll need:

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1/2 cucumber sliced
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 4-6 oz ginger beer
  • Ice cubes
  • Cucumber slice and mint sprig for garnish

Choose a good quality vodka for the best taste. Fresh ingredients make a big difference in this drink, so pick crisp cucumbers and bright green mint leaves.

Instructions

  • Add cucumber slices and mint leaves to the shaker. Muddle gently to release flavors.
  • Pour in vodka and lime juice. Fill the shaker with ice.
  • Shake well for about 10-15 seconds.
  • Fill a copper mug or tall glass with ice.
  • Strain the mixture into the mug or glass.
  • Top with ginger beer and stir gently.
  • Garnish with a cucumber slice and mint sprig.
  • Serve right away while the drink is cold and fizzy.

The copper mug keeps the cocktail chilled longer if you have one.

    Notes

This recipe is easy to adjust. For a stronger mint flavor, add more leaves. If you prefer less sweetness, use less ginger beer.
You can make a non-alcoholic version by skipping the vodka and adding more ginger beer or club soda.
For best results, chill your mug or glass in the freezer before making the drink. This helps keep the cocktail cold longer.
Pre-slice cucumbers and have mint leaves ready if you're making drinks for a group. This saves time when mixing multiple cocktails.
