Add mint leaves and simple syrup to the shaker. Gently muddle—just enough to get the oils out without shredding the leaves.
Drop in the cubed melon and give it a light muddle to get some juice going.
Pour in the vodka, melon liqueur, and lime juice.
Fill the shaker halfway with ice. Shake it hard for 15-20 seconds until it's nice and cold.
Double-strain into your chilled martini glass so you don't end up with pulp or mint bits.
Garnish with a melon ball or a thin slice on the rim, plus a mint leaf on top if you're feeling fancy.
Serve right away while it's still icy cold and the mint is super fresh.
Notes
Feel free to tweak this recipe to fit your mood. Want extra mint? Muddle more or just toss in a few more leaves. If you like it sweeter, bump up the melon liqueur to 1½ oz or add extra simple syrup. Craving more tartness? A little more lime juice does the trick.Melon-flavored vodka can sub in for the liqueur if you want something a bit stronger. Watermelon works too—just know it'll make a pinker drink with its own vibe.Leftover melon cubes? Toss them in a sealed container and keep them in the fridge for up to three days. Handy for your next round.
