This classic Southern drink becomes a party-ready punch that serves many guests. The mix of bourbon, mint, and sugar creates a sweet and refreshing beverage perfect for warm weather gatherings.
Start by making mint simple syrup. Mix sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Heat until the sugar dissolves. Then, add 1 cup mint leaves and let steep for 15 minutes.
Strain the syrup and let it cool completely.
Pour bourbon into the punch bowl. Then, add the cooled mint syrup and 4 cups cold water. Stir well.
Add remaining mint leaves to the punch and gently press with a wooden spoon to release oils.
Fill glasses with crushed ice. Pour punch over ice and top with a splash of club soda if desired.
Garnish each glass with fresh mint sprigs.
Notes
