Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Milk frother or electric frother
  • Measuring jigger
  • Tall glass
  • Stirring spoon
  • Ice cube tray

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ceremonial grade matcha powder or high-quality green tea powder
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz coconut milk unsweetened or sweetened, as preferred
  • 1 oz coconut water
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup, honey, or maple syrup
  • 2 oz hot water not boiling, around 175°F
  • 0.5 teaspoon grated ginger or pineapple ginger syrup optional
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Add matcha powder to a small bowl and pour in hot water.
  • Whisk with a frother until smooth and free of clumps.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Pour in pineapple juice, coconut milk, coconut water, and sweetener.
  • Add the whisked matcha and optional ginger or pineapple ginger syrup.
  • Shake well until the outside of the shaker feels cold and the drink is frothy.
  • Strain into a tall glass filled with fresh ice cubes.
  • Stir gently before drinking and garnish with pineapple or mint if desired.

Notes

Ceremonial matcha gives a bright green color and smooth taste. Tweak the sweetener and coconut milk for your preferred balance. Add ginger for a little kick. Shake hard for a frothy top. The drink is most vibrant and refreshing served immediately over fresh ice.
