Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or small measuring cup
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Bar spoon
  • Rocks glass
  • Ice cubes
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Small saucepan (optional, for cranberry syrup)
  • Toothpicks or cocktail picks

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz pure maple syrup
  • 1.5 oz unsweetened cranberry juice or cranberry syrup
  • 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice optional, for brightness
  • ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • fresh cranberries or sugared cranberries, for garnish
  • rosemary sprig for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  • Add bourbon, maple syrup, cranberry juice, and optional lemon juice.
  • Shake hard for about 15 seconds until very cold.
  • Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with cranberries on a pick and a rosemary sprig. Taste and adjust with a few drops more maple syrup if needed.

Notes

Top with a splash of sparkling water for a lighter highball. Homemade cranberry syrup (simmer cranberries with equal parts water and sugar, then strain) adds deeper color and fruitiness.
