  • Hawthorne strainer
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Measuring jigger
  • Coupe glass
  • Microplane or grater
  • Ice

Ingredients

  • 2 oz dark rum
  • 0.5 oz maple syrup real, Grade A
  • 1 whole egg or 1 oz aquafaba for vegan
  • freshly grated nutmeg for garnish
  • ice for shaking

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients except nutmeg to shaker. Dry shake (no ice) 10 seconds for froth.
  • Add ice, shake again 15–20 seconds until cold and foamy.
  • Double strain into chilled coupe glass. Top with fresh nutmeg.

Notes

Use real maple syrup for best flavor. Sub aquafaba for a vegan flip. Fresh nutmeg makes the aroma pop. Chill the glass for extra smoothness. Adjust syrup to taste.
