Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring tool
  • Espresso machine or coffee maker
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Martini glass
  • Small spoon or stir stick

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz freshly brewed espresso
  • 0.5 oz coffee liqueur e.g., Kahlúa
  • 0.5 oz pure maple syrup
  • ice cubes
  • coffee beans optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Brew the espresso and let it cool for 1–2 minutes.
  • Add bourbon, espresso, coffee liqueur, and maple syrup to a cocktail shaker.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake hard for about 15 seconds until frosty.
  • Fine-strain into a chilled martini glass.
  • Garnish with a few coffee beans, if using.

Notes

Swap bourbon with rye for a spicier profile, or split the base with vodka for a lighter take. Shake vigorously to build a thick foam. Adjust maple syrup to taste depending on roast level and bitterness of your espresso.
