This bold twist on a classic margarita adds smoky mezcal and spicy jalapenos for extra kick. The recipe serves 2-3 people and takes 5 minutes to prepare.
Rim margarita glasses with Tajin seasoning using a lime wedge.
Add jalapeno slices to shaker and muddle gently to release oils.
Pour in tequila, mezcal, lime juice, and triple sec.
Fill shaker 3/4 full with ice and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
Strain mixture into prepared glasses filled with fresh ice.
Garnish with lime wedges and additional jalapeno slices if desired.
Notes
The jalapeno heat level can be adjusted by using more or fewer slices. Remove seeds for less heat.Use 100% agave tequila for the best flavor. Silver (blanco) tequila works better than aged varieties. The cocktail can be made spicier by muddling the jalapenos more aggressively or letting them infuse longer.Store any leftover mix without ice in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
