This drink is all about sweet mango and sharp lime—fruity, tangy, and pretty addictive. Making it at home means I get to tweak the flavor and keep things fresh.
First up, I prep the glass—rub a lime wedge around the rim, dip it in salt. Totally optional, but I love the salty kick.
Then, fill the shaker with ice. In goes tequila, triple sec, mango nectar (or puree), lime juice, and simple syrup if you want it sweeter.
I shake it for at least 15 seconds, so it’s really cold and mixed. Using a strainer, I pour everything into the glass over fresh ice.
Garnish with a lime wedge or a mango slice. If I’m in the mood for frozen, I just toss everything (plus ice) in the blender instead of shaking.
Notes
If I want it less sweet, I just leave out the simple syrup. Sometimes the mango is tart, so I’ll add a bit more syrup to balance things out.Good mango nectar is easy to find, but honestly, fresh mango is my favorite—it just tastes brighter. For a non-alcoholic version, I skip the booze and use sparkling water or a splash of orange juice.Making a big batch? I multiply the recipe and serve it in a pitcher. Frozen mango chunks work great if you don’t have fresh, and they make the drink thicker and colder.A squeeze of extra lime at the end? Always a good idea.
