Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or small measuring cup
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Citrus juicer
  • Bar spoon
  • Small plate for sugar rim
  • Martini or cocktail glass

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka plain or citrus-flavored
  • 1 oz triple sec or Cointreau
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz mango puree fresh or store-bought
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup add more to taste
  • granulated sugar for rimming glass
  • lemon twist or thin mango slice for garnish
  • ice cubes for shaking

Instructions

  • Chill a martini glass. Run a lemon wedge around the rim, then dip in granulated sugar to coat.
  • Add vodka, triple sec (or Cointreau), fresh lemon juice, mango puree, and simple syrup to a shaker with ice.
  • Shake hard for about 15 seconds until the shaker feels frosty.
  • Double strain into the chilled, sugar-rimmed glass.
  • Garnish with a lemon twist or a thin slice of mango and serve immediately.

Notes

Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the brightest flavor. If the mango is tart, add a touch more simple syrup; if sweet, reduce it. For a lighter cocktail, use slightly less vodka and more mango puree. Blend fresh mango with a splash of water for a pourable puree.
