Equipment

  • Muddler
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Strainer
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Tall glass

Ingredients

Here's what you'll need for one cocktail:

  • 2 oz cachaça Brazilian sugarcane spirit
  • 1/2 ripe mango cubed
  • 1/2 lime cut into wedges
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp red chili flakes
  • Ice cubes

The mango should be ripe but firm. If it's too soft, it will turn mushy when muddled. Adjust the chili flakes to taste - start with less if you're sensitive to spice.

Instructions

Follow these steps to create your Mango Chili Caipirinha:

  • Add mango cubes, lime wedges, sugar, and chili flakes to a cocktail shaker.
  • Muddle the ingredients to release the juices and oils.
  • Pour in the cachaça and fill the shaker with ice.
  • Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
  • Strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with a mango slice or lime wedge if desired.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness or spice as needed. Stir gently before sipping to mix the flavors.

Notes

This recipe can be easily scaled up for a crowd. Prepare a larger batch in a pitcher, but wait to add ice until just before serving to prevent dilution.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace cachaça with coconut water or sprite. The tropical flavors will still shine through.
