Equipment

  • Hurricane glass
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Bar spoon or long spoon
  • Measuring jigger
  • Ice scoop
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Cocktail picks
  • Cocktail umbrella

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Malibu coconut rum
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 1 oz grenadine
  • crushed ice
  • 1 maraschino cherry for garnish
  • 1 fresh pineapple wedge for garnish
  • 1 oz peach schnapps optional, for extra sweetness
  • cocktail umbrella optional

Instructions

  • Fill your hurricane glass with crushed ice.
  • Shake Malibu coconut rum, pineapple juice, and orange juice in a cocktail shaker.
  • Pour the mixture over the crushed ice in your glass.
  • Slowly pour grenadine down the side of the glass using a bar spoon or long spoon for layers.
  • Garnish with a maraschino cherry and fresh pineapple wedge. Add a cocktail umbrella if you like. Serve immediately.

Notes

Always add grenadine last for the “sunset” effect. Crushed ice gives better layers. Peach schnapps makes it sweeter; use less grenadine for less sugar. Hurricane glass looks best, but any tall glass works. Skip rum for a mocktail, or blend for a frozen version.
