Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Citrus juicer
  • Bar spoon
  • Strainer
  • Highball glass
  • Rocks glass
  • Small cutting board
  • Knife
  • Ice tray

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz blanco tequila
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz agave nectar or a few drops stevia to taste
  • sparkling water or club soda to top
  • ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • grapefruit juice or sugar-free grapefruit soda optional, for skinny paloma variation
  • jalapeño slices optional, for spicy variation
  • fresh herbs (e.g., rosemary) optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Add 1½ oz tequila, 1 oz fresh lime juice, and ½ oz agave nectar (or a few drops of stevia).
  • Shake for about 10 seconds.
  • Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Top with sparkling water or sugar-free grapefruit soda; gently stir.
  • Garnish with lime, jalapeño, or rosemary. For ranch water, skip sweetener and top with Topo Chico.

Notes

Taste and adjust: add a few drops of agave if too tart, or more lime if too sweet. Chill tequila beforehand to reduce dilution. Fresh citrus yields cleaner flavor. Optional: briefly infuse tequila with pineapple or jalapeño for added flavor without extra sugar.
