Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or small measuring cup
  • Citrus juicer
  • Fine strainer
  • Rocks glass or margarita glass
  • Small plate
  • Bar spoon
  • Ice cubes or crushed ice

Ingredients

  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz limoncello Italian lemon liqueur
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz simple syrup or agave syrup
  • 0.5 oz triple sec or other orange liqueur
  • ice for shaking and serving
  • kosher salt for rim, optional
  • lemon wedge for garnish and rim
  • lemon zest for garnish

Instructions

  • Rub the lemon wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip into kosher salt or sugar to coat the rim.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, limoncello, lime juice, simple syrup, and triple sec.
  • Shake hard for about 15 seconds, until the shaker is frosty.
  • Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with lemon zest or a lemon wedge. Serve immediately.

Notes

Swap agave for simple syrup if you want a lighter sweetness. If too tart, add a splash of lemonade. For extra citrus, zest a lemon right into the shaker. For parties, pre-mix without ice and chill, then shake each glass fresh. Try sugar instead of salt for a sweeter finish.
