Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Punch bowl
  • Measuring jigger
  • Long bar spoon
  • Fine strainer
  • Hurricane glass
  • Ice scoop
  • Ice bucket
  • Citrus juicer
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Jamaican dark rum
  • 1/2 cup white rum or coconut rum
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/4 cup grenadine syrup
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup optional, to taste
  • Angostura bitters a few dashes
  • ice cubes for mixing and serving
  • pineapple slices for garnish
  • lime wheels for garnish
  • nutmeg or cinnamon pinch on top, optional

Instructions

  • Fill a cocktail shaker or punch bowl halfway with ice.
  • Pour in the dark rum, white (or coconut) rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, and grenadine.
  • Add simple syrup if desired and a few dashes of Angostura bitters.
  • Shake (for single servings) or stir (for a large batch) until well chilled.
  • Strain into a chilled hurricane glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Garnish with pineapple and lime; optionally dust with a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon.

Notes

Use bold Jamaican rum for depth. Fresh juices—especially lime and pineapple—make a big difference. Reduce grenadine or skip simple syrup for a less sweet punch; swap coconut rum for part of the white rum for a tropical twist. Serve immediately for the brightest flavor.
