Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon or whiskey
  • 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 6-8 fresh berries strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries
  • 2-3 fresh mint leaves
  • Club soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Berries and mint sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  • Add berries and mint leaves to the cocktail shaker.
  • Gently muddle to release juices and oils.
  • Pour in bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup.
  • Fill shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  • Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until well-chilled.
  • Strain into a lowball glass filled with fresh ice.
  • Top with a splash of club soda.
  • Stir gently with a bar spoon.
  • Garnish with fresh berries and a mint sprig.

Notes

This cocktail works well for larger gatherings. Just multiply the ingredients to make a pitcher version.
Prepare the base mixture (without club soda) ahead of time and refrigerate.
For a non-alcoholic version, you can replace bourbon with apple juice or non-alcoholic spirits.
