milk

cocoa powder or hot chocolate mix

sugar
adjust to taste

peppermint schnapps
whipped cream
for topping
mini marshmallows
optional
crushed candy cane
optional garnish
Instructions
Heat milk in a saucepan over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
Whisk in cocoa powder and sugar until smooth.
Remove from heat and stir in peppermint schnapps.
Pour into a mug.
Top with whipped cream.
Add mini marshmallows if desired.
Sprinkle with crushed candy cane for garnish.
Notes
For a non-alcoholic version, substitute peppermint extract (about 1/8 tsp). For group servings, scale up and keep warm in a slow cooker on low.
