  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Strainer
  • Citrus juicer
  • Bar spoon
  • Rocks glass
  • Ice

Ingredients

  • 2 oz rye whiskey or bourbon
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz honey simple syrup equal parts honey & hot water
  • 0.25 oz walnut liqueur or walnut bitters
  • 1 egg white optional
  • 2 dashes aromatic bitters
  • ice cubes
  • 1 slice orange for garnish
  • 1 sprig thyme for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Add whiskey, lemon juice, honey syrup, walnut liqueur, and egg white to shaker.
  • Dry shake (no ice) for 15 seconds to build foam.
  • Add ice and shake again until cold.
  • Strain into rocks glass with fresh ice.
  • Add 2 dashes aromatic bitters on top of foam.
  • Garnish with orange slice or thyme sprig.

Notes

Use fresh lemon juice for brightness. Walnut bitters work great if you can’t find walnut liqueur. Dry shake with egg white for creamy foam. Garnish with orange or thyme for a citrusy/herbal touch.
