Make honey syrup by mixing equal parts hot water and honey in a small saucepan. Stir until honey dissolves. Let cool.
If using a rim, run a lemon wedge around the edge of the glass and dip in salt or sugar.
Fill cocktail shaker with ice.
Add tequila, fresh lemon juice, honey syrup, and triple sec to the shaker.
Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until well chilled.
Strain into prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
Garnish with a lemon wheel.

Store honey syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.For a sweeter drink, add an extra 1/4 oz of honey syrup.The drink can be served on the rocks or straight up in a chilled coupe glass.Fresh lemon juice makes a big difference - avoid using bottled juice.
