Equipment

  • Large pitcher
  • Long spoon
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Juicer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Glasses
  • Small serving tongs

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle dry red wine Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 0.25 cup brandy or Grand Marnier
  • 0.25 cup triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 2 tbsp honey or simple syrup to taste
  • 1 orange sliced
  • 1 crisp apple diced
  • 0.5 cup fresh pomegranate seeds or arils
  • 0.5 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 small lemon sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 3 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • extra orange slices for garnish
  • sugar for rimming glasses, optional

Instructions

  • Slice orange, apple, and lemon. Add to large pitcher with pomegranate seeds, cranberries, cinnamon, cloves, and rosemary.
  • Add wine, pomegranate juice, brandy, and triple sec. Stir in honey or syrup to taste.
  • Chill in fridge for at least 2 hours (up to 8 hours for more flavor).
  • Serve in glasses with some fruit, garnished with orange slices or rosemary. Sugar rim if desired.

Notes

Use good, dry red wine. Add cranberry juice for extra tartness. Let chill several hours so fruit infuses the wine. Omit spirits for a lighter drink. For non-alcoholic, use pomegranate juice, cranberry juice, and sparkling water.
