Instructions

  • Fill cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  • Add vodka, tomato or Clamato juice, and lemon or lime juice.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, horseradish, celery salt, black pepper, and garlic salt if using.
  • Shake gently until chilled, about 10 seconds.
  • Rim glass with celery salt or Old Bay by wetting with lemon wedge and dipping in seasoning.
  • Fill glass with fresh ice cubes.
  • Strain mixture into prepared glass.
  • Garnish with celery stick, olives, dill pickle spear, lemon wedge, or pickled okra.

Notes

Homemade Bloody Mary mix allows full control of salt and spice levels. Use Clamato for a lighter flavor. Add more hot sauce or horseradish for extra heat. Try a 'loaded' garnish with bacon or shrimp for a fun brunch centerpiece. For variations, make a Virgin Mary (no vodka) or a Bloody Maria (with tequila).
