Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Bar spoon
  • Citrus juicer
  • Small knife and cutting board
  • Chilled coupe or martini glass

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 0.75 oz simple syrup
  • 0.5 oz green Chartreuse optional, adds herbal depth
  • 4-6 leaves basil fresh
  • 2-3 sprigs mint fresh
  • ice cubes for shaking
  • 1 wheel lime or mint leaf, for garnish

Instructions

  • Chill a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes.
  • Add basil and mint to a shaker with the simple syrup and gently muddle to release the aromas.
  • Add vodka, fresh lime juice, and green Chartreuse (if using). Fill the shaker with ice.
  • Shake firmly for 10–15 seconds until well chilled, then fine‑strain into the chilled glass.
  • Garnish with a lime wheel or a fresh mint leaf. Serve immediately.

Notes

Fresh herbs are key—avoid over‑muddling to prevent bitterness. If you don’t have green Chartreuse, skip it or add a couple drops of herbal bitters. Adjust sweetness by tweaking the simple syrup. Homemade 1:1 simple syrup keeps for about a week in the fridge.
